First-Year Scholarships

At Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø University, we know that affordability is a key consideration for prospective students and their parents. Understanding the costs of tuition and fees is just one part of the equation. That equation needs another component for you and your parents to have the full affordability picture: Scholarships.

OCU prides itself on offering generous scholarships to almost all undergraduate students. In fact, we award more than $34 million in aid annually to students in almost all majors, from business and chemistry to nursing and theatre.

To help you understand what scholarships you might expect, we've structured these web pages to make matters clear. First-year scholarships generally fall into one of three categories:

  • Automatic Merit Scholarships: These awards are given automatically to students in all majors based on their high school GPA. They can reach up to $13,000 per year and extend for all four years of your study. For these scholarships, your application to OCU doubles as your scholarship application.
  • Competitive Scholarships: These awards are not dependent on school, college or major. As the name implies, they are offered to selected students based on financial need and other factors. While your OCU application doubles as your scholarship application, you must apply to OCU by the Dec. 15 deadline to be considered. Some competitive scholarships may cover the full cost of an OCU education.
  • Major-Related Scholarships: These awards are given to students based their specific area of study and often can be stacked on top of automatic merit or competitive scholarships.

Please feel free to surf through the pages in this section to learn more about the types of scholarships and amount of scholarship dollars available in each category. If you need more information regarding scholarships, don't hesitate to contact our Office of Admissions or Office of Financial Aid.
