'Tidings of Joy' ring with Christmas Vespers concerts

The Bass School of Music will present its 46th annual Christmas Vespers concerts Dec. 12 and 13 in the First Presbyterian Church of Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø’s majestic neo-Gothic landmark sanctuary.

The "Tidings of Joy" concerts will combine the talents of more than 220 choristers and orchestral musicians with Lisa Reagan Love — Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø University alumna and Tony-winning producer — for a program of seasonal masterworks, readings, congregational hymns and the traditional candlelight finale. A musical prelude featuring the OCU Flute Choir and the Blackwelder Brass 30 will begin minutes prior to each concert.

The celebratory concerts feature full orchestra, chamber ensembles, poetry and Scripture readings, community singing of carols, and a finale with candlelit singers encircling the congregation.

The First Presbyterian Church is located at 1001 NW 25th St. Performances are at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 4 p.m. Dec. 14, both with reserve tickets. Tickets are available online at by calling 405-208-5227.
