This summer, the Teacher Development Academy at OCU (TDA@OCU) will provide coursework toward certification for K-12 emergency and alternative certified teachers. Each of these courses will count toward OSDE certification coursework requirements for early childhood, elementary, and secondary teachers only. This program is not appropriate for teachers pursuing special education certification. The Summer 2025 Cohort will meet June 2-17 (no classes on weekends).

GRED 6523 Classroom Management and Collaboration
In addition to the above courses, GRED 5113 Teaching Diverse Learners will be offered June 18, 23-27 for teachers needing additional coursework. This course will meet 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.
There is no virtual option. Attendance is required at all classes and course grades are impacted by absences. Teachers who take all three courses will earn both the Reaching and Teaching All Learners micro credential and 9 graduate hours of credit.
All classes will meet in person at OCU in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences in Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø.

- List every college/university attended in the academic history section.
- Use the fee waiver code OCUGRAD25 (code is case sensitive) to waive the $60 application fee
- Order official transcripts from each university you have attended (even if you didn't earn a degree there).

Once you have been admitted, you will be enrolled in the appropriate courses. Only the first 48 eligible teachers will be admitted to the Teacher Development Academy at OCU this summer, so you are encouraged to apply for and complete the admissions process as soon as possible. Enrollment for the summer cohort will close May 23, 2025.

What courses are included in the Teacher Development Academy?
The TDA@OCU will include 2 three-hour graduate-level courses, GRED 6523 Classroom Management and Collaboration, and GRED 6323 Teaching Methods Across the Curriculum. Interested participants can also take GRED 5113 Teaching Diverse Learners, which will be offered June 18, 23-27.
Is this program appropriate for teachers pursuing special education certification?
No. OCU is not accredited to prepare special education teachers, so the OSDE will not accept our courses for special education certification purposes.
What if I only need one of the courses offered?
Participants can enroll in one, two or three of the available courses.
How many hours of "seat time" will the TDA@OCU offer?
TDA@OCU will include 45 hours of seat time per three-hour course.
What if I need to miss a day of the program?
We understand that schedules offer challenges but expect program participants to be present for all classes. Any absences will have a negative impact on your final grade. If an emergency arises and you must miss all or part of a day, you will be provided a make-up assignment.

Do I need to enroll at OCU to participate?
Yes, all participants of TDA@OCU will enroll as a graduate student.
