OCU opens renovated baseball facilities

As the boys of summer are playing for the World Series, a college team is watching the games in their newly renovated clubhouse. The Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø University Stars baseball program recently marked the completion of an extensive renovation to its training and locker room facilities, establishing a premier complex designed for both high-level performance and player comfort.

The renovation, at a cost of approximately $800,000, touches every aspect of the indoor facility, providing the Stars with a modern and refreshed environment for practices and gameday play. The C.R. Sutton Baseball Complex features significant upgrades to support player development including:

  • Enlarged and modernized locker room with leather lounge furniture and a flat-screen TV for team meetings and downtime
  • Rearranged and refurbished coaches’ office suite
  • Expanded indoor batting cages with new flooring
  • Bullpen area with new turf and concrete pad
  • Refurbished restroom and shower area
  • Laundry facility with additional machines, including new commercial-grade washers and dryers with an extra-large hot water tank
  • Kitchenette with a beverage cooler and a microwave station

The entire indoor area received new carpet, walls, doors and furnishings.

The renovations were funded through several generous donations including from the Chickasaw Nation, Shane and Traci Sanders, Paul and Jonalee McLaughlin, and former Major League baseball player Freddy Sanchez, who played collegiate baseball for OCU before going on to star for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants.
